Festive footfall jumps at Manor Walks
Manor Walks shopping centre in Cramlington saw footfall increase 5% at Christmas, compared with December 2012.
Over 54,000 shoppers visited the centre on Monday December 23 alone and Boxing Day visitors were also up by 23%.
Bosses at Manor Walks say the growth was driven by new leisure brands such as Prezzo and Frankie & Benny’s, as well as new stores such as Dunelm and Currys & PC World.
The site now boasts over 100 retailers and includes Northumberland’s only multiplex cinema.
In just one day shoppers and staff from Manor Walks’ retailers donated over 1,000 Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children living across the region through Metro Radio’s Cash for Kids bus as it stopped by the centre.
In addition to the Cash for Kids roadshow fundraiser, shoppers also helped to raise over £700 for The Bubble Foundation as they visited Santa in his grotto at The Venue.
Manor Walks’ general manager, Bruno Coppola said: “Christmas 2013 reiterated the community spirit that we have here in Cramlington and once again our loyal visitors showed their amazing generosity to two local worthy causes.
“The response which we had to the entertainment and activities we put on for our customers over Christmas has also been outstanding, with people travelling from across the region to shop, relax and dine at Manor Walks.”
