Williams Liverpool invests £1.5 million in showroom facilities

Williams Liverpool has appointed Seddon Construction to build new showroom facilities for both BMW new and used car sales.

The two-storey development doubles the size of the family-owned car showroom at Great Howard Street from 7,180 sq ft (667 sq metres) to 13,692 sq ft (1,272 sq metres).

The scheme represents a major strategic investment as Williams looks to provide customers with an exciting new buying experience.

The 16-week project being undertaken by Bolton-based Seddon is due to begin at the end of January and be completed in June 2014.

During the redevelopment, the BMW showroom will be located in temporary units next to the Williams MINI showroom on Great Howard Street and remain open for business as usual.

On completion, Williams Liverpool will offer a unique customer hub featuring interactive displays in which to build and view a new car and to view approved used car stock.

The showroom will house 18 BMW models – including a unique section for the all-electric BMW i3 and the i8 sports car due to be launched in July 2014 – and there will be space for more than 100 approved used cars on the site.

David McGoldrick, dealer principal at Williams Liverpool, said: “This ambitious project represents an important strategic investment to allow us to achieve our growth ambitions across all areas of the business.”

He said 2014 would be a landmark year for BMW with the launch of new and updated models such as the new X3, 4 Series Convertible, 2 Series and i8.

“These fabulous facilities will allow us to accommodate the widest range of products ever and offer customers an unrivalled shopping experience that makes buying a car easy and enjoyable,” he added.

Craig Greene, project manager at Seddon Construction added: “We are delighted to be providing our expertise in high-quality commercial building to Williams BMW on such a prestigious project. The design of the dealership lends itself perfectly to modern day motor retailing and will allow Williams to continue to provide the highest levels of customer service.”

Architects for the new dealership were Taylor Design and Ridge Property and Construction acted as quantity surveyors.
