West Yorkshire housebuilder contributes millions to local projects

More than £5.2 million has been given to support local projects across West Yorkshire over the past five years by Barratt Developments plc.

The funding, which is part of planning agreements with the region’s local authorities, has been put towards such things as highway improvements, public open spaces, improvements to schools and educational facilities, recreational facilities and boosting local healthcare.

The contributions have come as a result of a number of new home developments across West Yorkshire including Bodington Manor at Adel, Silkwood Gate in Wakefield, Fountainhead Village in Halifax and Greenacres in Pontefract.

In addition to these investments, Barratt Developments has also donated thousands of pounds to local good causes over the past financial year, from charity events to sponsoring local sports teams and helping with school projects.

Ian Ruthven, managing director of Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire West division, commented: “As well as building new homes, we want to support local communities – and we hope these contributions will go a long way towards improving the lives of people who live in the local area.”
