Liverpool lawyer scoops national insolvency award

A Merseyside commercial lawyer has been awarded a prestigious national accolade.

Donal Bannon, a partner at Morecrofts Solicitors, received an award for “Sustained Excellence in Personal Insolvency” at the Acquisition International (AI) Magazine Legal Awards.

The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals and companies across the legal sector, from barristers and boutique firms to global players, identifying areas of success, innovation and ethics.

Mr Bannon, who leads Morecrofts’ commercial department, said: “I’m delighted to receive this award and it’s a fantastic accolade for the entire firm. We have made some great leaps forward in the past year and this has been a great way to round off our 200th birthday celebrations.

“Morecrofts is a trusted brand. With our rich history and forward thinking attitude, we are always moving with the times, but throughout that time we have maintained our commitment to excellent client service and that’s what continues to set us apart as we look ahead to the next 200 years.”

AI prides itself on the validity of its awards and its winners. The awards are given solely on merit and are awarded to commend those most deserving for outstanding work over the last 12 months.

The awards recognise leaders in their respective fields and, crucially, are nominated by their clients and their peers.

Jane Peter, chief co-ordinator of the 2013 AI Legal Awards said: “The year has not been without its challenges for the legal community but it’s clear from the evidence received that the industry’s professionals have risen to the challenge.

“They have produced some outstanding work, showcasing some extraordinary talent, and we’re delighted the industry has been so determined to recognise its stars.”

This year’s awards recognised over 1,200 winners in more than 115 countries.
