Sweet new venture for brewery boss
A Liverpool businessman is aiming to prove that high quality organic beer and sumptuous handmade cakes offer the recipe for a perfect relationship.
Mark Hensby, managing director of Liverpool Organic Brewery, has joined forces with Allerton based cake designer Gaynor Doyle to launch the Liverpool Cake Company.
The business is based near the brewery’s headquarters in Kirkdale and becomes the latest addition to Mr Hensby’s expanding stable of companies, which includes the Liverpool Nut Company and Liverpool Distillery Company, producer of the increasingly popular Liverpool Gin.
Gayle Doyle has long created cupcakes and a number of larger showpiece designs for Liverpool Organic Brewery’s festivals at Waterloo, St George’s Hall and The Black-E, often infusing them with the brewery’s own beers.
Mr Hensby believes the Liverpool Cake Company is a natural progression, saying: “We have worked with Gaynor for several years now and we never fail to be impressed by the creativity and attention to detail she brings to her cake designs.
“They have always proven very popular with our beer festival visitors and Gaynor has her own existing nucleus of loyal customers.
“With some additional investment and larger premises, we are confident we can expand the market for individual customers and commercial contracts alike and make a real success of the Liverpool Cake Company.”
Gaynor Doyle said: “Making innovative cake designs is my absolute passion and I am thrilled to now be partnering with Mark and his team to create the Liverpool Cake Company.
“I’m looking forward to pooling our knowledge and experience to create a new, exciting cake business that is genuinely different and superior to anything people have ever seen before.”
