Yorkshire start-up publishers behind release of Emmy award-winning film maker’s new book
The book release has been set for 6th February to coincide with Jay Leno’s final ever Tonight Show in the USA. Jay Leno wrote the Foreword for Dave’s new book and is an ardent supporter of his work:
Jay Leno states; ‘Within these pages Dave has written gung-ho, self-deprecating, wildly engaging accounts of his exploits, with all the behind-the-scene high-jinks that go into shooting news and documentaries across the world’.
Dave Banks has been a cameraman on the Tonight Show ever since Jay took over in 1992. Many people would think they’d made it in life if they were surrounded on a daily basis by A-list celebrities in sunny California, with free pastries on tap. Not so Dave Banks, who regularly stepped out from the cushy Tonight Show studios to film in some of the most hostile locations in the world.
Getting lost in landmine fields, being shot at and having a bounty on his head was all in a day’s work for Dave, as he strived to bring the audience things they’d never seen the like of before.
Gail Powell and Diane Hall, two mums from Yorkshire, set up Solopreneur Publishing twelve months ago, as a result of their disillusionment at the profit-motivated routes to market on offer to self-published authors. They wanted to help in every stage of the process from idea to marketability of a book.
As a result, Gail and Diane support authors with affordable, bespoke solutions at any stage of the writing and publishing process, helping them to complete and produce a professionally-tailored, self-published book. This author-centric approach sees their clients earn an increased share of their book’s royalties; Gail and Diane also show authors how to market their books successfully, rather than see their title lost amongst the twelve million books currently available on the larger online book-selling platforms.
Gail said; ‘It was quite a coup. Diane had been coaching Dave online for some time so when we decided to bring our skills together to form the new company Diane suggested offering Dave a more traditional publishing contract – and the rest they say is now history!’
The book has already exceeded expectations with the response to pre-ordering book being overwhelming, and with its witty and often breath-taking anecdotes of life behind the camera, it has something for everyone.
In ‘Cue the Camels’, Dave shares some of his adventures, whilst in pursuit of the coveted ‘money shot’. His comedic style is sure to entertain, and the things he’s experienced will leave readers in awe.
If you have always wondered what goes on behind the camera now is your chance to find out.
Cue the Camels is unusual in that each chapter has a web-link and QR code for smart-phone users, providing access to the amazing footage Dave has filmed - in often hostile and dangerous situations. The film clips are unique; today’s technology truly brings the book to life.
The book is now available to pre-order: all orders before 6th February will be signed by the author, Dave Banks. Visit www.cuethecamels.com to secure your copy, or for more information about Dave, the book and to view the amazing film trailer about his book.
