Robin Hood Airport Doncaster group raises £3000 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance
A community group which supports the work of Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield has raised £3000 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Friends of Doncaster Sheffield Airport (FODSA) raised the funds through attendance at local galas and events throughout the summer whilst promoting the Airport. Collections were also held at Robin Hood Airport and a number of FODSA social events and meetings.
FODSA was established in February 2005 following on from the ‘FLY Finningley’ campaign, with the aim to promote Doncaster Sheffield Airport through encouraging its preservation, development and improvement.
The group also help to inform public opinion by providing advice and information about the airport, the airlines that use it and services available from it.
Paul Armitage, FODSA Events Coordinator said: “The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an incredibly worthwhile charity and we are delighted to be able to help support them and the invaluable service they provide.
“All the members of FODSA have a real enthusiasm for aviation so the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was an obvious choice when we were looking for a charity to fundraise for.
We would like to thank all the companies who supported us in our fundraising for their kind and generous donations.“
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity providing a lifesaving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance Helicopter flies seven days a week, 365 days a year, covering a vast landscape that not only includes major cities and motor ways, but also rural and isolated locations. Yorkshire Air Ambulance Regional Fundraiser for South Yorkshire, Mark Perry, commented: “We are very grateful to everyone at FODSA for choosing to fundraise for our charity.
“We need to raise £9990 per day to keep both of Yorkshire’s Air Ambulances maintained and in the air. The generosity that we receive is the life blood of the charity and without it we would not be able to provide the service that we are so proud of.
“On behalf of everyone at Yorkshire Air Ambulance I would like to express our gratitude to FODSA and the local community for their donation and hope they continue to support the charity in the future.”
