Sales Nugget – Belief
I come across many salespeople, managers and businesses owners during meetings, network events, and training courses, who would like to improve their results. In some cases they are really struggling and claim the economy is bad, customers are not buying, and they are not sure what to do to improve their performance.
When I spend a little bit of time with them and ask a few hard questions the real reason eventually comes out. A lack of belief in themselves and/or the products and services they are selling, is holding them back.
Belief is such a strong motivator that affects us every day and a lack of it can damage our performance. This lack of belief can start to eat into you and effect your performance in front of your customers. In some cases it can mean that you don’t ask for an order as your belief has already decided the customer will say no.
This lack of belief can easily be changed by changing your attitude.
Remind yourself of how many times you have managed to win business in the past to restore belief in yourself. If you have been successful in the past why can’t you be successful now? If you don’t have belief in yourself do you really expect your customers to have belief in you?
Believe in yourself so your clients will believe in you!
Here are a few little tips to help improve your belief and performance:
- Maintain a confident attitude
- Keep up your good habits
- Believe passionately about you and your company
