Shopgate acquire Magento developers
Mobile commerce specialists Shopgate, who operate their UK headquarters in Newcastle, have acquired a firm of Magento developers in its first acquisition move.
The technology firm, with bases in California and a 132-strong team in Germany, have acquired MagCorp - specialists in open source e-commerce web application Magento.
The firm hope to use MagCorp’s expertise to build its integrations with the well-known shopping cart platform.
MagCorp is made up of four accomplished Magento developers at the top of their game. Alexander Wesselburg, André Kraus, Stephan Recknagel and Peter Liebig.
The team have worked on start-ups such as Glossybox as well as German online clothing retailr Luxodo and online car dealers Autoda - which piqued the interest of Shopgate.
Wladimir Baranoff-Rossine, Shopgate’s Newcastle-based chief operating officer, said: “The acquisition of MagCorp reflects Shopgate’s strong focus on building a world class team.
“Shopgate will use this expertise to bolster its Magento integration, specifically for the Enterprise platform.”
Shopgate, who employ a team of four people in Newcastle, say they are now on the lookout for further acqusitions and plan to grow their North East presence with two recruits each month.
