Liverpool hosts major investment professionals symposium
More than 200 leading investment professionals have attended a major UK conference in Liverpool.
The Quilter Cheviot Investment Symposium, held at the city’s Town Hall, saw representatives from across the country come together to discuss investment trends and industry affairs.
A total of 14 partnering companies were involved, and speakers included Quilter Cheviot CEO Martin Baines, along with Chief Investment Officer Duncan Gywther and Investment Director Claudia Quiroz.
Quilter Cheviot focuses primarily on structuring and managing bespoke discretionary portfolios for private clients, charities, trusts, pension funds and intermediaries and enjoys strong relationships with independent financial advisers.
The company advises clients across the UK and is one of the country’s largest independently owned discretionary investment firms and leading manager of SIPP assets, with offices in 13 locations across the UK, Jersey and Ireland. It currently manages over £15bn* of funds.
In a welcome address, executive director of Quilter Cheviot in Liverpool, Simon Walker, said: “Quilter Cheviot has had an exciting 2013, both externally as the industry emerges into the new post-RDR environment and internally with the merger of two formidable forces within the discretionary fund management industry.
“Whilst RDR has presented challenges, we believe that the industry is now even stronger than before and is poised for a future full of opportunities for those willing to embrace it.
“From the internal perspective, we have taken the strengths from both sides of the merger to create what we believe is an offering unparalleled within the discretionary market, both in the depth of our commitment and the breadth of our offering.”
Discussing the event itself, Walker said: “This was the third such event to be held in the city, covering a range of topics and giving financial advisers the very latest thinking on assets and investments.
“With the IFA market being so key to us, it is part of our strategic intention to establish Quilter Cheviot as one of the first choices for IFAs seeking support for their clients’ investment strategies.”
The investment conference, which covered technical, investment and consultative affairs, was followed by a drinks reception and dinner at the Town Hall.
