Millie’s Cookies to open branch in St George’s
One of the nation’s favourite cookie brands, Millie’s Cookies, is set to open a new store in Preston city centre.
Established in 1985, this will be the first Millie’s Cookies franchise to open in Preston. The 300 sq ft unit will open on Saturday February 21 and is located in St George’s Shopping Centre close to the Fishergate high street entrance.
The store will not only offer freshly prepared cookies but also muffins, cakes, ice-creams, smoothies, shakes, hot choc, tea and coffee. The new branch will also provide a giant celebration cookie service.
Millie’s Cookies has created eight full time staff positions and is likely to create a further three vacancies following the initial opening.
Franchise owners, Anne and Ben Wade from Lytham St Annes, run a number of other businesses in the Preston area and three other Millie’s Cookies branches in Blackpool, Blackburn and Wigan.
Anne Wade, Operations Manager, commented: “We are a family business with an extensive knowledge of Lancashire consumers and their needs.
“We recognised the unit was available and moved quickly to secure the opportunity, being located in a high footfall area within a shopping centre was our primary aim.
“The business will work in tandem with other bakeries and eateries within St George’s, offering shoppers, students and city workers a welcome treat. All our products are baked fresh on site with premium natural flavours and benefit from no hydrogenated fats, artificial sweeteners or additives.”
The store has been fitted with the latest branded equipment such as; ovens, coffee machines, chillers and POS systems. Customers will be able to select and purchase products via the counter which is positioned at the front of the unit.
General Manager of St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer, said: “This is fantastic news for St George’s and for Preston as another well-known brand commits to the city.
“It’s yet another positive sign that as a city we are attracting quality retailers.
“Millie’s Cookies strengthens the food offering in St George’s but will also give shoppers something different too with its personalised giant cookie service.
“I’m sure it will prove very popular with the sweet-smelling freshly baked cookies irresistible to passers-by.”
