Martin-Brooks swings into fundraising action

Roofing specialists at Sheffield-based Martin-Brooks have swapped life on the tiles for a day on the greens to raise money for its 25th anniversary charity challenge.

The firm gathered employees, suppliers and fellow roofers at Renishaw Park Golf Club, near Sheffield, for its annual golf day, adding £800 to its fundraising total.

A group of 44 golfers took part in the 18-hole Stableford competition, which included a post-round meal and prize presentation. Trophies were awarded to the top individual and winning team of four, Steve Scott from GS Roofing Supplies and Siddall Roofing Supplies respectively.

Dale Wright, Martin-Brooks’ contracts director, said: “I would like to thank everyone who took part in our golf day and donated their time and money so generously. The competition is now a regular fixture in our calendar and remains popular with friends and colleagues from across the industry. We are working hard to reach our fundraising target and this event was a welcome boost.”

To mark its 25th anniversary, Martin-Brooks pledged to raise £25,000 for nine local charities, including Help for Heroes, Sheffield Institute Foundation’s motor neurone research centre, Cavendish Cancer Care, St Vincent’s Furniture Scheme, Sheffield Talking News, The Rowan School, Catcliffe MS Therapy Centre, Amy’s Retreat and Norfolk Park Special School.
