Deadline looms for Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards entries  

Liverpool City Region Annual Tourism Awards is open to all organisations that have made a significant contribution to the tourism industry.

The deadline for entries is Friday, February 28th, and organisers want to ensure everyone who has contributed to the region’s economy during the last 12 months has the chance to be recognised and rewarded.

Sponsors, local, regional and national have already been secured and pledged their support for the event which this year is being staged at St George’s Hall.

Headline sponsors are Liverpool One, with Virgin, restaurant chain Viva Brazil; the Hoteliers Association, City Central BID and Commercial District BID all pledging their support as category sponsors.

Chris Bliss, Estate Director at Liverpool One, said: “Liverpool City Region’s Visitor Economy has never been stronger so we are delighted to be sponsoring these prestigious awards. We encourage businesses from across the region to submit their entries and join us in celebrating the amazing achievements of this important sector.”

A panel of leading industry experts, including Peter Avis, manager of Richard Branson’s award-winning Babylon restaurant at the Kensington Roof Gardens; Hamish Anderson, head sommelier and wine buyer for The Tate and Helena Egan, Head of Destination Marketing Sales for TripAdvisor, will all be helping to select the winners.

The awards will showcase the very best practice across the industry with 16 categories for excellence across a wide range of sectors.

The event, which is now in its third decade, will be held on Thursday, 22nd May and more than 500 guests are expected to attend. The awards are held on behalf of the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
