Jobs saved at struggling events firm Benchmark Communications

Twelve jobs have been saved following the sale of a liquidated events and conferencing firm which had been struggling over the last three years.

Newcastle-based Benchmark Communications will enter into liquidation, and a meeting of creditors called, before an agreed sale to a consortium of existing management and private investment.

The firm’s director Vincent Woods had been working with proposed liquidations Robson Scott Associated Limited, and commercial accountants Harlands, to find a buyer.

Mr Woods, who also runs a film company called TallTree Pictures Limited, has now stepped away from the business to pursue other projects.

Eamonn Wall, managing director of Robson Scott, said: “It is always unfortunate when a company has to enter liquidation. However, over the last few weeks we have been working hard with the director and Harlands to facilitate a sale of the business.

“This has now concluded ensuring the jobs have been saved and an important part of the Newcastle business environment has been retained in the North East. We wish Mercer Street every success in the future.”

Benchmark have been trading for over 14 years and provided services to national conferences.
