City of York Council urges sustainability in business
City of York Council has partnered with Investors in the Environment (iiE) to urge York businesses to become more sustainable whilst remaining profitable.
The event takes place during National Climate Week (March 3 – 9 ) and will look at the top ten steps businesses can take to help become more sustainable and profitable.
Businesses will be shown how they can better manage water, energy and waste and how to engage staff, customers and suppliers.
Cllr Dave Merrett, Cabinet Member for Travel, Transport and Sustainability, said: “This is a great event to help businesses become more sustainable and make excellent financial savings.
“On average an iiE member will save 15% on resources which equates to impressive savings, protecting profit and making businesses more competitive.In one year alone iiE members saved over £100,000 collectively through green initiatives.
“Sustainable businesses also benefit from an enhanced brand reputation, helping to attract new customers and build trusted relationships, whilsthelping to tackle climate change emissions and protecting our environment.
The seminar will take place at the council’s West Offices on Monday 3 March from 2-4pm.
