Barratt West Yorkshire to develop 960 new homes this year

Housebuilder Barratt Yorkshire West revealed a substantial sales boost in the last six months and ambitious plans for the year ahead.

Building on “strong local demand”, the company said it was aiming to open eight new sites across the area in the next 12 months that would bring a total of 960 new homes to the area.

These new sites include 299 new homes in Leeds, 244 new homes Bradford, 245 new homes in Wakefield and 78 new homes in Kirklees.

Barratt Group sold homes worth £1.3billion in the final six months of the year just ended.

According to the group, this provides further evidence that demand in the local housing market is picking up, boosted by the Help to Buy scheme.

Sam Wood, sales director at Barratt Yorkshire West.“We have had made a lot of changes to the homes we are building and that really seems to be paying off. We are building the right homes in great locations,

“It is clear that plenty of customers think now is a great time to take their next step on the property ladder.

“The availability and publicity around 5% deposit, low interest rate mortgages - through schemes such as the Government banked Help to Buy scheme, have helped to create a surge in enquiries.

“Since the start of the New Year we have been extremely busy with buyer enquiries. That means we can increase production which is an economic boost for the local area as well.”
