Purple is the colour as Hoar Cross holds Dignity Day
Pampering sessions and a special purple afternoon tea were the highlights of Hoar Cross Nursing Home’s ‘Dignity Action Day’ recently.
More than 60 people took part in the activities, which also included entertainment and the opportunity to leave comments on a special ‘dignity tree’ that will take pride of place at the home.
Everyone was encouraged to wear something purple and, thanks to Hortihealth UK, each resident was given either daffodils or a potted daffodil bulb.
Kathy Cleaver, General Manager, commented: “We firmly believe that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity and this is a fundamental part of the personal care we offer.
“Our Dignity Day gives us the chance to recognise this and also gives our residents and their families the chance to explain what it means to them.”
She went on to add: “The entertainment and pampering sessions were well received and there were some really interesting comments placed on the Dignity tree. It just goes to show how important it is to everyone.”
Hoar Cross Nursing Home, which is rated excellent by the Care Quality Commission, is set within two acres of landscaped grounds off Abbots Bromley Road in rural East Staffordshire.
Its team of professionals provides outstanding care for the elderly, disabled people, residents suffering from dementia and those in need of respite and palliative care.
A big focus is on maintaining the individual’s independence, with a dedicated team of Coordinators arranging daily activities, experiences and trips out. These range from exercise classes and live music performance, to woodland walks and holistic massages.
Last year marked Hoar Cross’ 25th birthday and to mark the milestone it invested £1m on updating all the buildings and a six-bed luxury extension.
