York solicitors score an expansion hat trick

York-based solicitors Guest Walker & Co have expanded their offices, have appointed a new commercial property solicitor, and launched a website, all to start off 2014.

They have also received confirmation from The Law Society that they have once again achieved accreditation under the Conveyancing Quality Scheme.

New recruit Matthew Hudson joins the firm’s Commercial Property Team from a large practice in Hull and will be working with clients requiring legal advice on all aspects of property development, acquisitions, disposals and lettings.

He will join Guest Walker & Co at their offices on Shambles, in York city centre, where they have just taken extra space in an adjoining building to accommodate the growing team.

Matthew commented: “Joining Guest Walker & Co is a fantastic opportunity and I am looking forward to becoming part of a team well known for their professional and friendly approach.

“I will be working with them to develop their Commercial Property Service and my specialist experience in the pub trade makes me ideally placed to offer landlords and all those involved in the hospitality sector in and around York a highly efficient service.”

The firm is also celebrating being accredited under The Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) for the third year running.

The Scheme provides a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practice, whether clients are buying or selling property, and is trusted by most of the UK’s biggest lenders.

Being accredited means that clients can be assured that a firm adheres to good practice management standards and has prudent and efficient conveyancing procedures in place through the Quality Scheme protocol.

John Walker, Senior Partner at Guest Walker & Co and Head of the Commercial Property team said: “We’ve got off to a great start this year and I am delighted to welcome Matthew to the team.

“He has already started working on some exciting projects and his specialist knowledge of the pub and hospitality sector will be a great asset to our clients.

“We are delighted to also have launched our new website, be expanding our offices and to have achieved the Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation once again, which is great testament to the skills and expertise of our residential conveyancing team.”
