Barclays has today announced it has joined forces with Welcome to Yorkshire to support businesses in the run up to Yorkshire’s Grand Départ.
The global financial services provider today announced a dedicated lending team based locally in Leeds to support businesses that are seeking funding for growth in the run up to this iconic race which will see an anticipated influx of over three million visitors to the region.
Caroline Pullich, head of business banking in Yorkshire and the North East, said: “The Grand Départ presents a brilliant opportunity for businesses of all sizes and sectors across the region and we want to ensure that they are financially prepared with great business plans in place to make the most of this unique event.
“This is a fabulous chance for growth within the Yorkshire economy and we now have a dedicated team in place to help shape lending propositions for businesses that seek to invest for the future and take advantage of the long term benefits the race will bring and the legacy it will leave.”
Barclays has already hosted eight roadshows for businesses across the region in conjunction with Welcome to Yorkshire to look at sustainable investment businesses can explore.
The dedicated lending team based at Millshaw Court, Leeds, will be on hand to discuss lending proposals in the run up to the race and also looking at the impact on economic growth following the race.
Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “We’ve been working in partnership with Barclays for some time now and having recently spent the morning with the credit team, bringing the race to life, I am delighted that they have taken this unprecedented step of setting up a dedicated team to support businesses from across the region.”
