Durham egg business sponsors Proper Food and Drink Festival

Durham egg producers Lintz Hall has been announced as the lead sponsor for this year’s Proper Food and Drink Festivals across the North East.

The family run, Burnopfield business will sponsor all three of this year’s locations - including North Shields’ Northumberland Square on August 30-31; a three-day event at South Shields’ Bents Park between May 24-26 and another two day outing on the newly refurbished Esplanade in front of Whitley Bay’s iconic Spanish City on June 14-15.

All the free to attend events championing North East food and drink will include around 70 gourmet food and drink traders as well as a street eats’ area and live entertainment, and are expected to each attract in excess of 10,000 visitors.

Richard Tulip, Lintz Hall Farm’s sales and marketing director, said the firm was delighted to have allied itself with the Proper Food and Drink Festivals.

“As a long established North East food producer which has been supplying businesses small and large with eggs for the past 61 years, Lintz Hall Farm was keen to continue its relationship with an event which does so much to champion the region’s finest food and drink.

“We were involved with the first Proper Food and Drink Festival and I was immensely impressed with not just the wide range of top quality local producers who were at the event, but the number of people it brought into North Shields over the course of the two days.

“The festival brings residents and local businesses together and I have no doubt that now another two towns and dates have been added to this year’s programme, the Proper Food and Drink Festivals will be one of the region’s most eagerly anticipated celebrations of all that’s good about the North East’s food and drink scene.

“At Lintz Hall Farm we are passionate about local food, passionate about the North East and passionate that people should be given every chance possible to discover the wealth of amazing artisan producers the region boasts.”

Mark Deakin added: “We are pleased that Lintz Hall Farm has come on board to help carry the load and ensure everyone has a great time and that the festivals remain free to attend and can continue showcasing local food and our small artisan producers.

“The positive impact the Proper Food and Drink Festival had on North Shields last year was phenomenal, not just from a financial point of view but we also found that local people really responded to it and took some ownership of it.

“We know footfall increased and that many of the area’s businesses, especially cafes and other food places have continued to benefit from that extra trade.

“The idea behind the Proper Food and Drink Festivals is to put events into places that wouldn’t normally have something like this. We would hope the same positive benefits seen in North Shields will come to Whitley Bay and South Shields.

“Without firms like Lintz Hall Farm sponsoring the events we would find them difficult to put on and all those positive benefits would be lost.”
