Joint venture to drive Warrington forward

A new joint venture has been formed to drive regeneration and development activity in Warrington.

The Partnership has been formed between property company and regeneration specialists, Langtree and Warrington Borough Council, who will be represented and enabled by the town’s economic development and regeneration agency, Warrington & Co.

The joint venture will be called Wire Regeneration Ltd and will principally cover the town’s Southern gateway.

One of its immediate priorities will be investment to refurbish and improve the town’s Wharf Industrial Estate, adjacent to Riverside Retail Park.

The deal is the latest in a number of successful private-public sector joint venture partnerships which Langtree has formed in recent years.

It follows a report by the Centre for Cities in January this year which ranked Warrington at No 4 in a UK league table for jobs growth, sitting behind Edinburgh, Brighton and London only.

Langtree chief executive John Downes said: “Warrington is one of the best performing economies on the UK cities list in terms of employment creation and is a business and investment destination with huge potential.

“We have widespread experience of delivering successful joint ventures with public sector partners so are very pleased to add Wire Regeneration Ltd to that growing portfolio and to be in a position to assist the town in the next chapter of its success story.”

Councillor Terry O’Neill, leader of Warrington Borough Council, added: “This joint venture opens up many exciting development opportunities for Warrington Borough Council to work alongside Langtree to explore and maximise the potential of our joint assets and combined skills.

“The partnership will unlock growth potential and is another key project identified in our framework for growth, Warrington Means Business, which was endorsed by the council last year.

“We are delighted to be partnered with Langtree, a company which has a solid track record of quality and delivery and is highly respected in the industry.”

Langtree has made a number of strategic long-term investments in property joint ventures where its money and expertise has delivered significant value to the partner organisations.

It is already engaged in othermajor private-public sector joint ventures across the UK; Sci-Tech Daresbury, PxP West Midlands and Onsite North East.
