Talented engineer awarded prestigious ICE scholarship

The Institution of Civil Engineers North East (ICE) has awarded a promising young engineer with a highly-respected scholarship in recognition of his hard-work and studies.

Matthew Johnson, from Middlesbrough, has been awarded a prestigious ICE QUEST scholarship, following his successful application to the scheme.

The QUEST Technician Scholarship provides support to students with technical and practical engineering experience, who are studying courses that could see them earn a professional qualification as an Engineering Technician. Applications required education, employment and qualifications information, as well as references from employers and a personal statement.

Matthew, 23, is studying part-time Civil Engineering HNC at Teesside University and works as a Trainee Design Engineer at Deborah Services Limited in Hartlepool.

Neal McCay, interim membership development officer of ICE North East, said: “I am delighted to present Matthew with such a prestigious award, which is fully deserved. The QUEST scholarship attracts students of the highest calibre with a real passion for engineering, and Matthew more than fits the bill.

“Matthew has a promising career ahead of him in civil engineering and I would like to wish him all the best with his studies.”
