North East vehicle transporters jump on low rates for major investment

County Durham-based Beamish Transport has announced a major updating of its car transporter fleet following a portion of funding.

The vehicle logistics company specialising in the transportation of cars, caravans, and fleet delivery throughout Great Britain and has an annual turnover of £6.2 million.

Beamish work with motor dealerships, national car auction houses, caravan manufacturers, importers and fleet suppliers and have an enviable reputation in the sector.

Darrin Pickering, managing director for Beamish Transport Ltd said: “We’ve brought forward the replacement of some of our fleet in advance of the Euro 6 regulations and the new tractor units will have lower fuel consumption, and cost saving benefits with lower repairs and maintenance costs.

“We thought with low interest rates it was a good time to invest in the business and Barclays have funded the deal for us through their asset finance department.”

Beamish Transport operates a fleet of over forty vehicles and the new fleet is in place for the busier period of the year when there is a lot of activity around new vehicle registrations.

The firm employees 63 and secured funding from Barclays to carry out the updating of its fleet.

Janice Grinton, relationship director at Barclays said: “We have a strong relationship with Beamish Transport which we’ve built up over the years and it’s great that we’ve been able to provide the funding in a flexible way so that the business can manage its fleet programme in a cost effective way.

“With a modern and efficient fleet the company will be well equipped to steal a march on its competitors and also increase capacity. “
