Papa John’s sign partnership with Newcastle United

Papa John’s has become the official pizza partner of Newcastle United for the rest of the Premier League season.

To launch the partnership, Papa John’s has created an exclusive offer for Newcastle fans to get half price pizzas every time Newcastle score twice in a match.

“This deal creates a win-win situation,” says Anthony Round, business development manager, Papa John’s. “As a company, we are focused on UK growth and this clever marketing promotion enables us to support fans and our franchisees alike.”

The partnership with Newcastle United, which was sourced and negotiated by sports marketing agency SportQuake, follows the current season-long sponsorship deal with the Football League, an agreement representing the first UK sport sponsorship for the third largest pizza chain in the world.

Dale Aitchison, head of partnerships for Newcastle United Football Club, commented: “This is a really exciting partnership and one that I’m sure the supporters will enjoy. The fans play a big part in our performances at home and on the road and it’s great that Papa John’s have shown their appreciation for the support they give our players.”

Andrew Gallagher, Papa John’s marketing director, said: “The Football League partnership has worked really well for us due to the great connection between the clubs and the local community and we wanted to partner with a Premier League club that could offer us just that.

“Newcastle United is one of the giants of English football and is the heartbeat of city. They have such a passionate fan base it was an obvious choice and once we finally got the chance to put pen to paper we knew the best way to kick off our relationship – give the supporters fantastic pizzas and deals.”

The Score Twice Half Price promotion kicked off on Saturday March 1 – with a Newcastle 4-1 victory over Hull.

To take advantage of the offer, supporters need to sign up to Papa Rewards on the Papa John’s website and select Newcastle United. For the rest of the season whenever Newcastle score twice in a game, Papa John’s will send fans an offer code to receive 50% off pizzas – which can be ordered from any store in the UK. The offer will be valid online only and from when the second goal is scored until the end of the next day.
