Dara O Briain to host Skills for Business Awards 2014
The presenter of TV’s The Apprentice, You’re Fired!, Dara O Briain is to host Greater Manchester’s inaugural Skills for Business Awards at The Hilton Hotel Manchester Deansgate on 3 July 2014.
Noted also for hosting topical panel shows such as The Panel and Mock the Week, the Irish comedian will compère the awards evening which will celebrate the direct impact learning has on businesses in Greater Manchester.
The awards are created through collaboration between the Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network (GMPLN), Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and New Economy (NE) with the lead sponsor, Pearson Work Based Learning, part of the world’s leading education company.
Nominations are now being sought for 19 award categories across a range of sectors including financial and professional services, health and social care, manufacturing, construction, retail, public sector, hospitality and tourism.
Recognition will be given to the best small, medium and large business, as well as trophies for social enterprise, school, learning provider and apprentice of the year. The finale will include a special Rising Star award for an exceptional leaner.
Louise Timperley, Head of Skills and Employment from Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, speaking on behalf of Skills for Business Awards, said: “It’s great to have Dara O Briain host this prestigious event in Manchester.
“It promises to be an entertaining and enjoyable evening, providing an opportunity for Greater Manchester’s learning and business communities to come together and celebrate learning excellence. People are the most important asset for any business and the evening will be all about recognising that.”
Entry is free and the deadline is 4 April 2014 with the shortlist announced in May.
