Sintons take Shearer's test for a fitter practice

Staff at Newcastle law firm Sintons have taken part in a 15 minute fitness test using the Alan Shearer-endorsed Speedflex programme, owned by Sage founder Graham Wylie.

More than 50 staff took up the challenge of finding out about their wellbeing and fitness levels when Speedflex took their Inbody 720 machine directly to the law firms head office in Newcastle city centre.

The ‘life-changing’ initiative was such a success that a second day has already been scheduled due to high demand.

Speedflex Europe was formed in 2011 by businessmen Graham Wylie, founder of Sage Software, former Newcastle United and England star Alan Shearer and Paul Ferris, former footballer and physiotherapist at NUFC.

Cath Jenkins, co-owner of the Jesmond Speedflex centre, explained: “Body composition tests can be very insightful for a lot of people. So many of us use our weight as an indicator of health and fitness and many people are surprised by the results of a composition analysis.

“The InBody 720 takes two minutes to calculate a person’s weight, muscle mass, percentage body fat, balance, water content and the potentially dangerous measurement; visceral fat. Visceral fat is arguably the most important as this is an indication of how much fat is stored around your abdominal organs and people with a high result could be at risk.”

Alan Dawson, chairman of Sintons, added: “there was a strong sense of friendly rivalry across Sintons when Speedflex’s InBody came to our office. Over 50 staff took part to learn some vital statistics about their overall health and wellbeing.

“It is very reassuring to know we are a relatively fit group, with some real fitness stars in there – they know who they are! Being a ‘people business’ and keeping staff healthy is particularly important to us and it’s great to experience at first hand Speedflex’s unique approach to bringing health and fitness, literally, into the centre of the workplace.”

Graham Wylie, chairman of Speedflex, said: “We are looking to actively engage with local businesses to promote health and wellbeing.

“We believe Speedflex is life-changing and we can prove it. We are more than happy to bring this technology to any business in Newcastle who would like to give it a go and see ‘life-changing’ results for their staff.

“Speedflex appeals to many different types of people from busy professionals, pensioners, middle-aged men and women, people with weight concerns to recreational and professional athletes and we want everyone in the North East to have a Speedflex Inbody Assessment using our new technology and see the results. We would love them to give Speedflex a try for two or three weeks too – it’s easy, enjoyable, safe and addictive but, more importantly, anyone can then have another assessment to see the improvements in such a short space of time.”

Speedflex Gyms are opening/open across the UK, Europe, Dallas and Dubai.
