Leeds brewery supplier Microdat doubles in size with £100k investment

Microdat, the specialist brewing and packaging equipment manufacturer, has completed a £100,000 investment in its manufacturing facilities.

This is following Microdat’s recent relocation to new premises at the Millshaw Industrial Park in Leeds, West Yorkshire which has enabled the firm to double the size of its production facilities

Now, with four production lines in operation, the company is now able to manufacturer different sizes and specifications from its range of brewing and packaging solutions concurrently.

As part of the investment Microdat has created a new fabrication area, welding and electrical bays and installed a two-tonne capacity internal crane. The facility also now features a small product testing zone and new stores.

Significantly, in addition to the 40,000 square foot production area increasing manufacturing capacity and flexibility, the factory’s 10 metre height enables large brewhouse constructions to be manufactured and stored inside the building.

The development of Microdat’s facilities supports the company’s continued investment in the latest technologies and advanced engineering techniques, including robotics, which has led to sustained progress in automated handling systems in the brewing industry.

Dr Maitland Hyslop, CEO of Microdat, said: “Increasing manufacturing capacity will enable the business to meet the growing demand from UK and international customers for our brewing and packaging solutions.

“We have seen sales grow dramatically in the past 18 months, which drove the requirement to expand into larger premises.

“With this investment in our facilities, equipment and processes, we can now increase the pace of our growth and our position in the market.”
