Tynemouth student scoops national business management award

A final year Business Management student was awarded with Best Student Contribution to a Small to Medium sized Enterprise at the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards this month following a 12-month placement.

Natalie Diver, originally from Tynemouth, was one of four finalists shortlisted for the Best Student Contribution award, which included her fellow Business Management student, Alice McLinden.

The national awards, in association with The Guardian, aim to highlight the importance of undergraduate employability.

Natalie commented on her achievement: “I was absolutely delighted to receive such high recognition for my contribution during my placement year with Baggers Originals, which produces children’s rainwear and swimwear that folds up into a small bag.

“I always gave 100% effort and it’s so rewarding to see that my hard work has paid off, not only in the company, but to be recognised for my achievements.

“My contribution to gaining more than £750,000 of free publicity at Baggers was what clinched the award for me. I really enjoyed having the freedom to explore my own ideas and manage my own tasks and I think being involved in this type of work allowed me to develop my theoretical knowledge and put it into practice.”

Natalie took on a placement year at Baggers Originals during her time at Newcastle University Business School. Her contributions to the North East company exceeded expectations and she proved herself to be a valuable member of the Baggers team.

Throughout her studies Natalie has been successful in building up a large portfolio of other achievements and awards; demonstrating her vast entrepreneurial skills and her natural flair for business.

As the president of the Entrepreneur’s Society, Natalie can go on to share her experiences and knowledge with others who look to follow in her path.
