Liverpool business helps get sporting challenge on the road

The UK’s largest lawn care provider has turned to a Liverpool business for support in their bid to raise more than £25,000 for Sport Relief.

Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool is providing its automotive expertise to help GreenThumb tour the UK in a Volkswagen camper van.

GreenThumb, an official supporting partner to Sport Relief, is visiting more than 18 locations across the UK as they challenge the public to test their football ‘keepy uppy’ skills.

People taking part in the challenge have to keep a football off the ground for 30 seconds, for the chance of winning a prize draw.

The Speke based van centre gave the brightly-coloured Volkswagen camper van a complimentary service and has agreed to help with any issues the vehicle may face throughout the challenge.

Andrew Evans, Sales & Marketing Director at GreenThumb, said of the van centre’s support: “Having worked with the Volkswagen van centre team for a number of years, it seemed an obvious choice to turn to them for help.

“We were delighted that they were willing to service our camper van for free but overwhelmed when they offered their assistance throughout the challenge.

“It’s reassuring to know that if we have any mechanical problems during our epic journey we can just pick up the phone to the Liverpool team and they will help sort everything out.”

To help raise funds for Sport Relief, GreenThumb has pledged to donate £5 for every new customer and for every existing customer that upgrades their service. The ‘Keepy Uppy’ tour will close in London on March 23 where the lawn care experts will deliver their fundraising cheque.

David Cowan, head of business from Volkswagen Van Centre Liverpool, said: “We are always happy to support our loyal customers where we can and were delighted that we can offer our expertise to help the GreenThumb team achieve their challenge.

“Should they have any problems, whether it’s in Scotland, Northern Ireland or East Anglia we will use our vast network of Volkswagen Van Centres to help get them back on the road. We would like to wish them the greatest success.”
