Interact Launch

Networking group formed to connect senior North East construction leaders

A group of senior North East construction and property industry professionals have come together to launch the region’s locally-based arm of a national networking initiative.

Interact is a network of construction and property business syndicates throughout the United Kingdom aimed at bringing like-minded industry experts together with a view of generating business opportunities in a social environment.

Established in 1977, Interact operates in 25 different UK locations, and offers structured networking on a local, regional and national which are designed to help generate new commercial opportunities for their members.

Interact Newcastle, which is open to senior construction and property industry personnel right across the north east, is chaired by Martin Westgate, director at Robertson, with Tony Harmieson, director at B3 Architects, acting as vice chairman.

Other organisations already involved with Interact Newcastle include Riley Consulting, 3E Consulting Engineers, JK Property Consultants and RMT Accountants & Business Advisers, who will be providing advice to members on issues such as tax planning and raising finance for the construction and property sectors.

Martin Westgate says: “Interact Newcastle is something that has been set up to support the region’s leading property professionals in generating work and attracting inward investment to the north east, and we’re confident that it will be just as successful as it has been elsewhere in the country.

“Developing strong personal relationships is obviously crucial in identifying, addressing and securing new commercial opportunities, and our aim is to grow the group’s core members as quickly as we can over the coming months.

“Our construction industry has clearly been through some difficult times in recent years, but it has an enduringly important position within the regional economy, and Interact Newcastle aims to support its continuing contribution to the north east’s overall economic recovery.”
