A cut above the rest! AJM Hairdressing secures a place in prestigious L’Oréal competition

A renowned Liverpool hairdresser has snipped his way to success by securing a place at the L’Oréal Colour Trophy North West Regional Final 2014.

Andrew Joseph Manion, director of AJM Hairdressing in Old Swan, has beat off stiff competition from around the UK, as a result of his innovative and eccentric hair creations.

Prior to being nominated, Andrew’s photographic portfolio alongside hundreds of other hopeful entrants, were judged by the hairdressing industries most iconic names including, Sally Brooks from Brooks & Brooks, Charles Worthington MBE, Ken Picton from Ken Picton Salons and Chris Williams, International Colour Director from Rush.

Andrew, 30, said: “I am honoured to have been selected to run in such an admired hair competition. It gives me great pleasure to showcase my edgy hairstyles to some of the most sought-after and well respected style directors and colour technicians from around the country.”

Throughout the final, Andrew will battle it out amongst the nation’s best hair talent in hopes of being crowned the winner of the 59th year of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy. In order to impress the team of judges, all competitors must create a live model look and demonstrate an awareness of the Autumn/Winter 2014/15 trends in just 30 minutes.

The winner of the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy will pick up a once-in-a-lifetime prize package which includes a photo shoot in London to showcase their winning look, a day training with an experienced session stylist, a fashion shoot with Elle Magazine, as well as lunch with their hairdressing idol.

Andrew added: “I hope my passion for my job will be evident in my designs during the final stage of the competition. My aim is to stand out from the crowd and wow the judges by demonstrating current styles and trends through the combination of hairstyles, colours, makeup and clothing – ultimately I want to create an inspirational show-stopping look.”
