Pitman Training expand into Spain - with former student

Yorkshire-based training provider Pitman Training has continued its growth, expanding its international presence by opening the first centre in Spain this month. Heading the Barcelona Pitman Training centre is Marta Garcia – a former Pitman student herself.

Marta, who came to England in 2003, studied effective business communication at Pitman Training in Holburn in 2004. She said: “It’s time Pitman Training gave the opportunity to change careers, transform lives and maximise staff potential to the citizens of Barcelona.

“I think people who train at Pitman Training can boost their career as it happened to me. After I completed the course I found my dream job in London.”

Andrew Walters, Pitman’s franchise sales director, said: “Marta carries on a proud tradition that we have at Pitman Training of our former students going on to run their own centres. After studying with us in London, we are delighted to have been working closely with Marta over the last year on the plans to enter what is a dynamic and exciting market in Barcelona. The ability to work in an English environment is growing ever more important as the Spanish job market changes and develops, and we are really excited to be at the forefront of offering training to meet those needs.”

Marta first started looking at the opportunity to take the brand to Spain in 2012. She explains: “I had meetings in London with Andrew Walters a couple of times before I finally took the plunge. In one meeting he arranged visits to centres in London which helped me gather a great insight into how the centres work. The help and support I have received from Andrew and the rest of the head office team over the past year or so has been brilliant.”

When asked why she feels Pitman Training will work well in Barcelona, Marta continued: “Pitman Training is a full member of the British Franchise Association and a top business Superbrand [being shortlisted as a finalist in the Superbrands training category in 2013 and 2014]. It has over 175 years of experience in enabling millions to access learning and its expanding growth towards international markets means that being trained by Pitman has the same value and recognition abroad as if being studied in the UK, which is a huge benefit and advantage for citizens of Barcelona.”

Pitman Training Group trains over 25,000 individuals each year, claiming an unparalleled completion rate of 98 percent and an impressive 80 percent positive job outcome within six months of training. They have franchise opportunities available in Leeds, Nottingham, Milton Keynes and Ipswich, as well as opportunities overseas.
