Suspended Coffee with WSHA and Snuggle Muffin

Glasgow based West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) and city-centre café Snuggle Muffin are helping to spread a random act of kindness in the form of a hot cup of coffee.

Instead of charging for the coffees brewed at their exhibition stand at a recent housing conference, WSHA gave delegates the chance to ‘suspend’ a coffee and make a donation towards buying a hot drink for someone who really needs it.

Generous coffee drinkers donated over £130 which will sit behind Snuggle Muffin’s counter in George Street, to buy a hot drink for someone who couldn’t afford it, whether they are homeless or have found themselves out of pocket.

The idea is really starting to take off thanks to the power of social networking sites, with the ‘Suspended Coffee’ UK Facebook page reaching over 3000 likes.

Snuggle Muffin entrepreneur, Juliane Grasekamp, 21, opened her café last year. She said: “We support Suspended Coffee because so often it’s the little things in life that can make a huge difference to someone. Seeing people perform these random acts of kindness is so inspiring and heart-warming and it shows what a beautiful and kind community we have here in Glasgow that people are running with it.”

Carron Garmory, Director of Corporate Services, WSHA said: “It’s been an exciting opportunity to be involved in Suspended Coffee and I want to thank everyone who donated. Buying someone a coffee might seem like a little thing but it can make a big difference to someone’s day and we’re happy we are able to give something back. It’s really just the right thing to do.”

WSHA’s whole ethos is about believing nothing is impossible and finding new ways to challenge conventions. WSHA aims to make society a better place to live and to make a real difference to the way people live their life.
