Wellington Place offices let to private banking firm Brown Shipley
The ground floor commercial suite of Number 10 Wellington Place, the first new build premium office development in Leeds city centre for more than five years, has now been let.
The completion of a deal with Brown Shipley brings the development of the site into its next stage.
Brown Shipley, a UK private bank headquartered in London, will be relocating its Leeds base from St. Paul’s House by taking 3,928 sq. ft. of space at the flagship development in Leeds’ West End.
Commercial law firm, Shulmans, is confirmed as the first occupier to make it its home, neighboured by existing companies already located at Wellington Place, including Sky, Allianz and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Detailed planning consent has also been granted for Number 5 and 6 Wellington Place, construction of which will commence during 2014-2015.
Both will be five storey buildings, with 65,000 sq. ft. and 100,000 sq. ft. respectively of grade A office and retail space.
Andrew Cowell, commercial director at MEPC, said: “There has been lots of interest in space on offer at 10 Wellington Place. Securing a top private bank shows MEPC’s commitment to creating a five star destination in the heart of the city centre.
“We are sure that this commercial offering will make Wellington Place an even more attractive proposition for premium companies looking to locate in Leeds.”
Ian Abbs-Brown, head of facilities management, Brown Shipley said: “The move to Wellington Place represents another milestone in the growth plans for Brown Shipley.
“We feel that the new location in the heart of Leeds is the ideal position for providing services to our ever increasing number of clients.”
