Sci-Tech Daresbury welcomes new international arrival

Sci-Tech Daresbury has welcomed its latest international tenant - the Israeli/American company Mellanox, a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end solutions for data center servers and storage systems.

The company, which is moving into The Innovation Centre at Sci-Tech Daresbury, has offices in California and Israel and its new UK base will provide it with an expanded footprint to support its long-term growth strategy in Europe.

The move to the site will also allow the business to harness the power and potential of the cutting-edge high performance computing capabilities at the UK’s premier £37.5 million super-computing location – The Hartree Centre.

Access to the Science and Technologies Facilities Council (STFC) facility will allow Mellanox to establish new commercial opportunities, and develop mutually beneficial relationships with other Daresbury companies.

“This announcement highlights our strategic investment in the European region, and within the UK specifically. The new Sci-Tech Daresbury office underscores the importance of our continued investment in the UK’s businesses and communities,” said Shai Cohen, COO of Mellanox Technologies.

“With this new office, we will be able to better provide support and services to our UK and European-based customers.”

Mellanox interconnect solutions increase data centre efficiency by providing the highest throughput and lowest latency, delivering data faster to applications and unlocking system performance capability.

STFC’s Director of Scientific Computing, Professor Adrian Wander, said: “The Hartree Centre provides access to one of the largest software development centres in the world, unlocking significant capabilities for our users.

“We are therefore looking forward to be working with Mellanox as it harnesses the power of high performance computing, and the benefits this will bring, both to its business and its customers.”
