Hexham lighting firm expand follow LED demand
Hexham-based lighting suppliers Amitex LED say huge demand for their products is prompting an expansion into new premises.
The Bridge End Industrial Estate firm, which also operates a division in China, specialises in the low power consumption lights.
Managing director Alan Morton explained: “There is phenomenal growth in the LED lighting market. As an established player with a reputation for high quality products and excellent customer service, we are well positioned to take advantage of this.
“Our sales have increased by 80% in the past year and, having rapidly outgrown our current premises, we were very fortunate to find suitable accommodation right next door. The extra space will allow us to hold more stock and maintain our current high level of customer service.
“We have also employed two new regional sales managers - Mat Binnington will be working with our wholesaler customers in the North of England while Andy Talbot focuses on the Midlands, Wales and the North West. Further appointments for the South West and Scotland will follow in the next couple of months.”
Until more recently LED lighting did not match the performance of its more traditional counterparts. The technology has now become cheaper, and can be retrofitted to existing fittings.
