Liverpool Chamber invites firms to Talk Turkey
The Liverpool Chamber of Commerce is hosting a video conference with the British Chamber of Commerce of Turkey on 25th March to make companies aware of the opportunities of trading overseas and to introduce them to new contacts.
The conference, part of a programme designed to help companies get ready for the upcoming International Festival for Business in June and July this year, aims to highlight the UK’s business expertise and position Turkey as a partner of choice in the different sectors.
Chris Gaunt, Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce of Turkey, said: “The video conference will give participants the opportunity to take part in a session that will showcase UK’s capabilities and know-how, offering valuable knowledge transfer and innovative expertise to support Turkey’s ambitious 2023 Vision.
“Turkey, one of the MINT countries, is a strong export market for local companies with consistent year on year growth in the number of export shipments, particularly from the construction, chemical and machinery sectors, even during the recession.”
The British Chamber of Commerce of Turkey was founded in 1887 by a group of British businessmen with its base in Istanbul. It has subsequently developed into one of the key players in the promotion of UK-Turkish business.
The Turkish chamber is a member of Council of British Chamber of Commerce in Europe (COBCOE) and works closely with UK Trade & Investment representatives in the British Consulate General in Istanbul.
The EU has a trade agreement with Turkey allowing goods to be imported into the country at a reduced rate of duty for shipments with an accompanying ATR form, making EU goods more competitive, something which local companies can use to their advantage when exporting to Turkey.
For Merseyside SMEs interested in expanding its activities in Turkey, the Chamber will be providing a programme of support through ERDF.
Liverpool Chamber will also be running a two day event at the IFB - ‘The Power of the Chamber Global Network’.
The event, which will be held on 15th - 16th July at the new Rum Warehouse in Stanley Dock, will be a high profile event for 300 delegate’s showcasing representatives from overseas chambers and trade associations from across the world’s high growth markets.
