North Yorkshire dentist gets teeth into new business following hundreds of thousands of pounds of investment

One of the region’s most highly qualified dentists has opened her first independent practice in a North Yorkshire market town.

Claire Lawson, an award-winning dentist, has opened CTL Dental in Richmond having spent the last 15 years of her career working at Newcastle Dental Hospital and various dental practices and community services within the North East.

Claire, from the Richmond area, identified a niche in the market and a requirement for a dental practice in Richmond which could offer a full service as well as practical opening times, on evenings and weekends.

Following more than £300,000 investment, CTL Dental has created three jobs so far at the practice on Newbiggin in Richmond town centre.

As well as an extensive range of specialist dental and medical qualifications, Claire is one of only 1% of dentists nationally who pursue their industry education to advanced MSc level. In addition, Claire was named Young Dentist of the Year in 2010 and has been a finalist in the Dentist of the Year and Private Dentist of the Year awards.

CTL Dental offers a host of services including root treatments, crowns and bridgework, denture design, implants and veneers, facial aesthetics and more. In addition, Claire is one of only a handful of dentists in the North Yorkshire region qualified to offer and extensively experienced in laser dentistry which is especially effective for nervous patients as it is less intrusive and can reduce healing times.

Speaking about her new venture in Richmond, Claire said: “For many years I have worked all over the North East and Yorkshire with some great organisations. However, I realised there was a real need for a dental practice offering a full range services at practical times in the Richmond area.

“I’ve has many years’ experience of working with all types of patients- especially those who may be slightly nervous. That’s normal and there are techniques to make the experience a whole lot better. These days there are many qualifications available and I’ve studied to the highest levels and am now keen to share my experience with people in Richmond and the surrounding areas.”
