Charity hopes to snap up funds at Lobster Charity Ball

A NORTH east charity is hoping to snap up funds at one of the largest society events in the region.

The Lobster Charity Ball, which takes place at Hardwick Hall Hotel on Friday 2nd May, will raise funds for Daisy Chain, which supports families affected by autism.

Managing Director of Ramside Estates, John Adamson, said; “Daisy Chain were our nominated charity at last year’s Lobster Charity Ball and with the help of our generous guests, we raised more than £18,000 to help support them in their work throughout Tees Valley.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming them back and hopefully we can mirror or even improve on last year’s fundraising success.

“An event like the Lobster Charity Ball is the perfect opportunity for us to give something back to the local community and the staff from Daisy Chain are great to work with. Their fundraising activities add some extra fun to the evening and guests are always willing to get involved. Last year we raised more than £2,000 by auctioning a driving experience for 2 people at famous German motorsports complex Nürburgring.”

Daisy Chain was established in 2003 and provides support for both children and their families from a 5.5 acre farm in Stockton.

Judith Haysmore, Chief Executive of Daisy Chain, said; “Events like the Lobster Charity Ball are hugely important for us as for every six pounds that’s raised we are able to provide one hour of respite care for a child. We work with 850 individuals per week throughout the region, 130 of whom we provide much-needed respite care for.

“The support we’ve had from John and his team has been crucially important for us and the money raised from last year’s event has really helped the families we look after. It’s fantastic that we have another opportunity to raise awareness of what we do. We are looking forward to meeting guests, watching some great live entertainment as well as raising funds.

Daisy Chain offer support to children and families through various support groups, courses, social clubs and activity days.

As well as supporting Daisy Chain, guests at the annual Lobster Charity Ball will enjoy exclusive performances for top musical artists including 80’s new wave sensations ABC; 6-piece band The Sally Army led by X-Factor bootcamp finalist Sally Dawson and north east entertainer Jerome Remblance.

Providing the laughter throughout the evening will be well-known local comedian Brendan Healy who will compere the night.

There will also be a delicious four course Lobster Surf & Turf gourmet meal served to guests, created by the chefs of the Rib Room Steakhouse & Grill.
