IFB 2014 partners International Tennis Tournament
The International Festival for Business (IFB) is serving up support for this year’s Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament as the city gears up for an unprecedented summer of business, cultural and sporting activity.
IFB will become an associate partner of the tournament which provides spectators with a special opportunity to watch ATP and WTA players warm up before Wimbledon.
This year’s tournament takes place at Liverpool Cricket Club, Aigburth from June 18-22 and is part of the diverse range of events making up IFB, the largest business event of its kind in the UK for more than 60 years.
The partnership allows members of the IFB’s Business Club to take advantage of a 20 per cent discount on tickets for the tennis tournament, one of the highlights of Liverpool’s sporting calendar.
The tournament, which has been running since 2002, is now Europe’s largest tennis exhibition, and features emerging stars of the sport as well as world renowned legends, this year including former British number 1, Greg Rusedski and 1977 Wimbledon Women’s champion Virginia Wade.
Anders Borg, tournament director and organiser, said: “Each year the tournament has grown in popularity and we expect more fans to flock to the courts than ever before, especially as this year we are part of the family of events that form the International Festival for Business.
“I’m so pleased to once again be working with our sponsors Liverpool Hope University and Liverpool City Council, and delighted that the IFB is supporting the tournament too. I hope that those who visit the city for the Festival take the chance to come to the tennis.”
IFB is a 50-day business festival hosted in Liverpool during June-July 2014. It will be a global showcase for great British industry across multiple sectors, and will champion UK businesses to new markets, new products and new partners.
Comprising up to 200 world-class events, the festival is a key part of the government’s ambition to promote economic growth, rebalance the economy and double UK exports by 2020.
IFB is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors, from SMEs, corporates and entrepreneurs, to business delegations from across the world.
The business-facing side of IFB will be complemented by IFB Culture, a programme of arts-based events, making this a truly unique experience for all visitors who attend.
IFB also includes sporting events in its calendar and has identified the Liverpool Hope International Tennis tournament as a key event during the summer.
Max Steinberg CBE, chair of IFB 2014, said: “The Festival provides a wonderful opportunity to promote the whole of Liverpool and the city region in all its endeavours and not just our excellence in business and industry.
“The Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament has become a part of our sporting landscape and is an exciting part of the city’s offer. Through our partnership we can offer IFB Business Club members the exclusive chance to see some top class tennis at an historic venue at a great price.”
