Cramlington’s Strategic Corrosion Management expand Scottish presence
Cramlington-based Strategic Corrosion Management (SCM), the international corrosion management specialist, has enhanced its presence in the Aberdeen market by launching a new office in Aberdeen City Centre.
With a main base on the edge of the City in Turriff, the company has enhanced its client support through expansion into an office in Berry Street.
The office will focus on the company’s business development activities supporting its operations in Northumberland and Lowestoft, Suffolk.
With 24 staff working across its UK operations plus a consultancy support network of 12 Corrosion Specialists and an engineer pool of more than 60, SCM supports the long-term integrity of off and onshore oil & gas installations, chemical process plants and manufacturing facilities.
SCM is a world leader in all aspects of corrosion management and control, corrosion prevention techniques including coatings selection, insulation and passive fire protection and has been serving clients in the North Sea, Europe, Far and Middle East, Africa and the Americas for more than 30 years.
Its management systems are currently deployed on more than 129 facilities with at least 300 Client assets having deployed the SCM technologies on past projects.
Through the SCM flagship specialist toolset ‘RISCm’ (Risk, Integrity & Strategic Corrosion Management), underpinned by extensive knowledge of material corrosion and degradation in harsh industrial environments, SCM supports clients’ asset management programmes and safety protocols around the world.
SCM surveyors provide detailed analysis across a plant or offshore installation, which generates an on-going corrosion management and maintenance programme monitored and managed through the cloud-based RISCm software package.
Ian Cordingley, managing director of SCM, said: “We have served the Aberdeen oil & gas market for many years through on-site and remote projects, but the facility we opened 18 months ago helped to formalise our position in the market.
“Expanding into the city centre offers us fresh impetus to develop the business further building upon the North Sea contracts we have supported with companies such as Maersk, Shell, Centrica and others.
“We are benefiting from the industry’s renewed focus on life-extension for North Sea assets as they look to maximise hydrocarbon resources.
“Being at the heart of the Aberdeen market in our new offices will increase our visibility as we build new and existing relationships with asset operators.”
