Recipe for success! Delifonseca secures top five spot in Taste of England Awards

After impressing foodie fanatics with culinary wonders, Delifonseca Dockside has been shortlisted for ‘Taste of England’ in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2014.

Located on Brunswick Quay, the award-winning eatery and deli has beat off tough competition from around the UK, to secure a top five spot in the prestigious accolade.

As a finalist, Delifonseca is set to attend an exclusive awards ceremony, which will take place on Monday, May 12 at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Proprietor Candice Fonseca said: “We are thrilled to have secured a place in such an admirable national competition. We hope that our innovative recipes that are devised with locally-sourced produce, combined with our niche holistic approach, will make us stand out from the crowd and wow the judges.”

The winner of ‘Taste of England’ will be revealed during the forthcoming ceremony, whereby all finalists are guaranteed to receive a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Highly Commended Award.

This year the VisitEngland Awards have attracted almost 400 applications, showing a progressive increase of 15% since 2013. The competition aims to reward national tourism businesses that produce or prepare fine food, which has been locally harvested and also contributes to the long-term sustainability of the local community.

James Berresford, Chief Executive of VisitEngland said: “We receive hundreds of applications each year of an extremely high standard, so it is a tremendous achievement for Delifonseca Dockside to become a finalist and to represent the top five in their category in England.
