£125k revamp for Doncaster Races restaurant
The Old Weighing Room restaurant and bar, formerly known as Silks, at Doncaster Races has undergone a £125,000 refurbishment.
The newly revamped restaurant is opening on April 17.
Doncaster Racecourse, owners of The Old Weighing Room, employed the services of local architects and building companies to undertake the work which has been completed over the last few months, attempting to.preserve its architectural design features from the 1920s.
Mark Spincer, managing director of Doncaster Racecourse comments: “We are very excited about The Old Weighing Room, we have retained the charm and character of the building and Chef Robinson is bringing a whole new approach to the restaurant food offering to the area.
“The restaurant provides a perfect stand-alone dining experience for guests whether they are enjoying the races or just wish to dine out.”
Chef Robinson has been recruited to run the kitchen at The Old Weighing Room, having previously worked for the Jamie Oliver Foundation as a training chef for No.15 restaurant in Cornwall.
With a terrace overlooking the racecourse, the restaurant will accommodate up to 60 covers and features an elegant bar serving a variety of wines, cocktails and a range of specially selected beverages.
Locally-sourced ingredients and seasonal produce will be used wherever possible and the menu will regularly change in order to showcase a variety of dishes and an exciting Yorkshire fayre menu.
The Old Weighing Room will be open for dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4pm with food service starting from 6pm and Sunday lunch is served from 12pm to 6pm.
