Construction company turnover quadruples

Developer Galliford Try Partnerships North is on course to top turnover of £60 million within three years after targeting work in new areas.

The firm, which moved into new headquarters at Great Park, Newcastle last year, has recently secured a number of contracts with local authorities and the region’s social landlords to deliver innovative and sustainable housing projects.

Managing Director, Stephen McCoy, said: “This year so far has been transformational and we have taken on 30 new staff – more than doubling the workforce. The company has changed the type of business it is targeting and we’re much more focused on housing and mixed tenure sites – it’s a change of direction that’s paying dividends.

“We have been more successful in securing key projects and are currently on 14 sites – compared to maybe four or five last year. We’ll top £30m turnover this year and if all goes to plan, we could be up at £60m in three years.”

Current schemes include two projects to deliver new homes for Cestria Housing Association in Nettlesworth and Bournemoor, four similar projects with Homes for Northumberland in Blyth and Amble, an extra care centre for Leazes Homes in North Kenton, an apartment complex for Home Group in Felling and the redevelopment of a former school site in Hartlepool for the Vela Group.

Galliford Try is also working on an exciting new Extra Care facility for Derwentside Homes in Lanchester and recently handed over the completed Chapel House medical centre in Newcastle.

The company’s new build homes for sale division – Linden Homes – has just commenced work at Birtley on the first phase of the Gateshead regeneration initiative which will eventually deliver 2,500 homes. It is also proposing schemes in Ponteland and 375 homes Morpeth.
