Donation helps Eagles soar to success
DONATION HELPS EAGLES SOAR TO SUCCESS
A donation from Responsive Engineering Limited has helped rugby league club, The Wallsend Eagles, soar to success in the Under 13s league and also allowed them to open out their membership base to include a girls’ rugby team.
The welcome boost to the club’s funds has meant that all players now have customised Eagles training and playing kits which have seen the confidence of the teams shoot up and helped them to approach their games with renewed confidence. The donation also released existing club funds that enabled them to get under 13s and under 16s girls’ teams off the ground and this has attracted 19 female players to the club.
Based at Walker and Team Valley, and part of the Reece Group, Responsive Engineering provides a range of high quality subcontract manufacturing services to the oil and gas, subsea and power generation industry. Established in 1990 it is regarded as one of the North East’s leading manufacturing businesses.
As a thank you for the generous donation, the Under 13s team coach and two members of the team presented Responsive’s managing director, Roger Anderton, with a framed club strip. Eagles Team Coach, Alan Stephenson thanked Responsive for the boost to the club saying:
“On behalf of the club we would like to thank Responsive Engineering for its support and for recognising the importance of youth development at the club. The new kits have undoubtedly unified the players and the additional coaching for the new girls’ teams is progressing well.
“Wallsend Eagles has an excellent reputation and is recognised as a pathway to national leagues. We like to encourage early participation in rugby league and we will be soon introducing 7s – 10s teams to ensure we nurture and support emerging talent.”
Roger Anderton, managing director of Responsive Engineering added:
“We have a strong policy of supporting our local communities, particularly for sporting and education projects. We’re delighted that our contribution to Wallsend Eagles has had such a positive impact at the club and we wish them well in their training and for the league next year.”
