Manor Walks Showcases Local Talent During Spring Fashion Fling
Spring and summer styles created by local designers and high street favourites will be showcased at Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure this week as part of its inaugural Spring Fashion Fling event.
Manor Walks’ Spring Fashion Fling will bring the catwalk to Cramlington on Saturday 12 April as Northumberland’s largest shopping centre shares the latest styles from retailers during catwalk shows hosted throughout the day.
Through the event, Manor Walks is helping to harness the talent of tomorrow’s young designers as fashion students from Northumberland College will exhibit their portfolio collections from Tuesday 08 April in The Venue, whilst their designs will be modelled on the catwalk on Saturday.
Hairdressing and beauty students from the college will also be assisting on the day as they style the hair and make-up of the professional models, who will be dressed in collections from New Look, NEXT, Dorothy Perkins, Peacocks, JD Sports, George at ASDA, Tu at Sainsbury’s and Pal Joey.
Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure’s general manager, Bruno Coppola, said: “Our Spring Fashion Fling offers an exciting opportunity for shoppers to discover the new styles and trends that are coming into our stores for the spring/summer season.
“With professional models and a sprinkle of local student talent our Spring Fashion Fling is sure to the biggest and best fashion show hosted at Manor Walks.
“Throughout the day we will also have special offers and promotions courtesy of the stores supporting the event for people who come along to watch the shows.
“Across the North East there is so much untapped talent, which as a region we should really be shouting about, so we’re proud to be able to support the talent of local young people by involving them in our event.”
As part of the Spring Fashion Fling, fringe events will also be hosted at the centre in the week leading up to the catwalk shows. Events will include a stall from North East scarf designer Becca Raimes, who also works part-time in Sainsbury’s at Manor Walks and a student at Cleveland College of Art and Design. The event will give Becca the opportunity to display her collection, whilst demonstrating how she designs the scarves.
Becca added: “It’s great that Manor Walks is giving me, and other aspiring designers, the opportunity to get involved with the Spring Fashion Fling. I started making scarves as a hobby but I’ve had so much interest that it is now turning into a little enterprise. By hosting my own fringe stall event I’ll be able to share my designs with a much larger audience which is key for any new designer.”
The Spring Fashion Fling catwalks shows will take place at 10am, 12noon, 2pm and 4pm and will last approximately 15 minutes each. The audience will also benefit from promotions from a selection of stores showcasing their collections as well as competitions on the day.
With over 100 retailers including Northumberland’s only multiplex cinema and a great range of family restaurants and retailers, Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure in Cramlington offers a huge amount of choice to suit a range of tastes.
