Video business moves into new Barnsley base
Barnsley’s Digital Media Centre has welcomed a new business both into the building and into Barnsley this month.
Visualisedit, a video production business has become the latest addition to the Digital Media Centre’s ever expanding list of clients.
Joada Allen-Booth made the decision to move into the DMC from office space in Rotherham after attending one of the networking events in the building in late 2013.
She liked the building instantly and was attracted to the idea of working alongside so many like-minded digital businesses.
Joada, 30, set up the business last year to provide corporate videos for businesses.
Since launching the business however, Joada has widened the business’s horizons and there are now three elements to the business, corporate videos, education and weddings.
Visualisedit holds educational workshops and does the filming for university seminars. Joada was also recently asked to support a primary school in incorporating media changes in the curriculum later this year.
Before setting up Visualisedit, Joada was working as a freelance video producer and also lectured at Rotherham College. Joada made the decision to set up her own business due to a mix of the instability of freelance work and the restriction on education.
Joada, said: “I love working for myself, it’s manic at the moment and I’m working 7 days a week a lot of the time, but it’s great.
“I decided to move the business here after attending a networking event. I spoke to some of the companies based at the DMC and the idea that I could collaborate and learn from other people really influenced my decision.”
Gareth Scargill, DMC centre manager, said: “We’re always pleased to see a new business enter the DMC but a business that is not originally from Barnsley is even more exciting. It once again demonstrates the very positive attitude towards doing business in Barnsley.”
