Local talent takes to the spring fashion fling Cramlington catwalk
Spring and summer styles created by local designers and high street favourites were showcased at Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure on Saturday as part of its inaugural Spring Fashion Fling event.
Manor Walks’ Spring Fashion Fling brought the catwalk to Cramlington on Saturday (12 April 2014) as Northumberland’s largest shopping centre shared the latest styles from retailers during a day of catwalk shows.
Professional models dressed in collections from New Look, NEXT, Dorothy Perkins, Peacocks, JD Sports, George at ASDA, Tu at Sainsbury’s and Pal Joey, were also backed by Northumberland College’s fashion students who had the opportunity to exhibit their portfolio collections on the catwalk.
Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure’s general manager, Bruno Coppola, said: “Our Spring Fashion Fling offered an exciting opportunity for shoppers to discover the new styles and trends that are coming into our stores for the spring/summer season.
“With professional models and a sprinkle of local student talent our Spring Fashion Fling was a great success. It was fantastic to see so many of our loyal shoppers show their support.
“Across the North East there is so much untapped talent, which as a region we should really be shouting about, so we were proud to be able to help nurture the talent of local young people by involving them in our event.”
As part of the Spring Fashion Fling, fringe events were also hosted at the centre including a stall from North East scarf designer Becca Raimes, who works part-time in Sainsbury’s at Manor Walks and is a student at Cleveland College of Art and Design.
Becca added: “It’s great that Manor Walks gave me, and other aspiring designers, the opportunity to get involved with the Spring Fashion Fling. I started making scarves as a hobby but I’ve had so much interest that it is now turning into a little enterprise. By hosting my own fringe stall event I was able to share my designs with a much larger audience which is key for any new designer.”
With over 100 retailers including Northumberland’s only multiplex cinema and a great range of family restaurants and retailers, Manor Walks Shopping & Leisure in Cramlington offers a huge amount of choice to suit a range of tastes.
