Housing regeneration consortium builds for future with independent chairman
To further strengthen its management structure and support for members across the North West, housing regeneration consortium, Procure Plus, has elected its first Independent Chair to its executive Board.
Currently chairman of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, Michael Brown succeeds incumbent Ian Perry, who stands down after eight years’ service.
Mr Brown has more than ten years’ experience as chair of a number of Boards across the region, including those of Liverpool Science Park and Merseyside and Liverpool Theatres Trust.
He also served as vice-chancellor and chief executive of Liverpool John Moores University from 2000 to 2011, where he introduced the European Excellence Model leadership and management framework, which has played a key role in the university’s outstanding academic performance.
Mr Brown said: “Procure Plus has a great reputation among housing providers for the service it offers, both for its members and for their tenants.
“I’m looking forward to continuing the good work of Ian Perry and the Procure Plus team in promoting the regeneration of members’ local communities.
“This is an interesting time for the social housing sector in light of recent changes to Government legislation, and I’m determined to ensure the organisation is in a position to support as many providers as possible over the coming years.”
Chief executive at Procure Plus, Mike Brogan, added: “Michael brings with him a real understanding of how intelligent procurement can save millions of pounds for clients and contribute to local economies at the same time – something Procure Plus has been doing from the outset.
“There was a really strong field of candidates for the Chair position, and it is a credit to Michael that the Board saw him as the right person for the role following our recent governance review.
“This was based not just on what he has done previously in his career, but also on what he can bring to the future growth and development of our already successful organisation. We are sure he will meet this challenge with enthusiasm and skill.”
