New manager at the helm of £6.5 million Worcester Care Home
Care UK has announced the appointment of home manager, Mike Dearn, who takes the helm at a new 82-bed Worcester care home as it gears up to welcome its first residents in May.
Situated on Charles Hastings Way, close to Worcester Shrub Hill train station, Perry Manor is a £6.5million care home from Care UK, which is on track to create up to 100 jobs. The home will offer a range of services including residential and nursing care and specialist dementia care, together with palliative, respite and end of life care.
Mike Dearn, aged 52 from Birmingham, takes on the role as Home Manager, with responsibility for the day to day running of Perry Manor. Having started his working life as a chef, Mike has more than 8 years’ experience in the care industry, and is well skilled across all aspects of the care industry including Dementia, Nursing and Residential Care.
Speaking about his new position, Mike Dearn said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Home Manager for Perry Manor and I am now making the most of the opportunity to play a part in getting the home up and running as we head towards our opening in May.
“I strongly believe our residents should be the focus of the home and at the centre of everything we do, and I will be leading the way in listening to our residents and getting to know them and their families as they make Perry Manor their home. At the same time, I am focused on putting Perry Manor on the map as a home that delivers the highest quality care and is a valued part of the community here in Worcester.”
Richard Scarth, Regional Director for Care UK, added: “As we gear up to open the doors to Perry Manor, we are very pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Dearn. Mike has been recruited on the basis of his professionalism, experience, skills and track record. He is a hands-on manager, who is clearly looking forward to being involved in all aspects of daily life within the home and to driving standards to ensure Perry Manor is a sought-after and reputable care home.”
The name ‘Perry Manor’ is an historical reference to Worcestershire’s own Perry Wood, which is said to have been visited in by historical figure, Oliver Cromwell. The homes’ café, Berrow, also pays homage to Worcestershire history as it is named after the county’s old RAF airfield. One of the home’s lounge’s and dining rooms is named after the orchards that are part of Worcestershire’s heritage, the library is named after Sir Edward Elgar the composer, and there is even a lounge named after the former cinema and concert venue, The Gaumont.
Each of the 82 bedrooms at Perry Manor will benefit from its own ensuite wet room and high quality furniture and soft furnishings. All bedrooms will also come complete with a flat-screen television, adjustable profile bed, and access to a 24-hour nurse call system.
The home has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives and it features its very own cinema room and a hairdressing salon. There is a sun-filled garden room and safe and secure, wheelchair friendly landscaped gardens.
Members of the public will have their first opportunity to take a closer look at Perry Manor on Friday 28th February, when Mike and the team open the doors to the new show room.
